Wedding venues
You know who you want to marry, you know when you want to do it, but where on earth are you going to tie the knot? Fear not, with the right consideration, it's an easy decision. There is a perfect wedding venue out there for everyone, you just have to know what you want, and book it in!
Options for wedding reception venues
Pamela Anderson married Tommy Lee on the beach - twice. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes flew all the way to a castle France for their wedding ceremony. So where are you going to marry your loved one?
The choice is yours of course, and it all comes down to what sort of wedding you wish for; if you're not sure which style of wedding venue suits your ideal wedding, you may want your wedding to reflect your personality. All in all, the venue should probably be somewhere that holds special significance to the bride and groom - and, although it's by no means a priority, it's an added bonus if it's easily accessible to the bulk of your guests.
To get some ideas, types of wedding venue include:
- Church
- Registry office
- Garden
- Beach
- Boat
- At home
- Function centre
- Community Hall
- Restaurant
There are many more options of course, and some possibilities will depend on the city in which you live - unless you're willing to travel. Bear in mind that the further you go, the fewer guests may be able to attend.
Wedding venues: Handy tips
Before you lock in a choice of wedding venue consider these key points:
- What happens if it rains?
- Is there enough room for guests?
- Is there enough seating for guests?
- Can you accommodate your guests comfortably?
- Do you have a positive association with this venue?
- Are you allowed to use this venue to host a wedding? (i.e. some public areas do not allow weddings to be held - to find out if this affects your chosen wedding venue visit the local government website in the area in which the venue is situated)
- Is there electricity in the area? (for music and microphones if needed)
- Is the area accessible for elderly or disabled guests?
- Are children allowed in the area for a wedding ceremony (children are often denied access to venues serving liquor or with a public bar).
Consider all of the above and also how much you're willing to either compromise or strive to attain a particular type of venue. Most importantly, consider what's important to you and your partner and try to match a venue to the style of wedding you both really want. After all, ultimately it's your special day and yours alone; guests will appreciate the need for your wedding's location and venue to match your individual personalities.
