Wedding dresses
Okay girls, so we all only want to do this once (i.e. get it right the first time), right? Well, getting married isn't just about finding the perfect husband-to-be - it's also about finding the perfect wedding dress. Plan Your Wedding offers some crucial tips on the most important dress you'll ever wear, and don't worry, bridezillas are more than welcome.
Choosing the perfect wedding dress
Perfection. It something you have been striving for since you were a little girl, and especially when it comes to wearing the right clothes at the right time and impressing the right crowd! Don't be shy - we all admit to this at some point. A woman's wedding day is perhaps the single most important day of her individual life. Surveys show, that although women rate childbearing as their most valued achievement, their own wedding day was the one true day when it was "all about me". So the perfect wedding dress is a necessary part of this equation.
What types of wedding dresses are out there?
To start with, it's imperative to match the perfect wedding dress to your body. Stop now if you were thinking of finding the perfect dress and trying to match your body to it - it just won't work. Your husband-to-be is marrying you because he loves you just the way you are, so be yourself, look yourself, and feel beautiful!
There are many different types of wedding dresses to choose from. The most common styles are:
- Traditional princess "Cinderella Dress": This usually includes a full skirt and bodice with a hoop underneath to maintain shape.
- Sexy and svelte: Think clingy. Think curves. Think fitted lace or satin
- Family heirloom: This is when you either wear your mother or Grandmas original wedding dress and it is as perfect for you as it was for them, or you get a family member's used wedding dress altered to suit your personal taste and incorporate your personal touches.
- Hippie tree hugger wedding: Thinking of a rainforest wedding? Or maybe you want to go barefoot on the beach? Either way, an earthy wedding dress can be made of anything from tie-dyed calico to flowing chiffon, and is usually in a colour other than the traditional white
- Strapless couture: By far the most popular style of the 1900s and naughties. The strapless dress suits most body shapes and styles and is still highly fashionable.
Before finding the perfect wedding dress for you - do your research. Go to bridal shops and try on different styles. Buy some bridal magazines and have a look at the dress styles that most interest you. And most importantly - wear what makes you feel good! The perfect wedding dress will help to create the perfect bride!
